About Course

In-depth training in academic research skills to develop you as a productive scholar

About the program

__________________________________
Our doctoral training will immerse you in all aspects of academic life.

You will be a student and junior research fellow. We offer courses in a wide range of research methods and you will work closely with your supervisors to define your research question and develop your thesis. In addition, you will have opportunities to gain experience in teaching and research assistantship and to participate in the intellectual community within Oxford College. You will attend academic conferences, give presentations, organize lectures and seminars and contribute to administrative and academic decisions.

Both of our PhD programs run in parallel, with differences only in coursework and preparation for writing in journals relevant to your chosen topic.

We have deliberately kept the programs small which means that in the vast majority of cases, students are fully funded to allow them to devote their energies to research. The DPhil program is consistent with the doctoral degree offered at most other universities.
